The Yale Technology and Ethics group invites Mireille Hildebrandt to give a talk on Regulating AI by way of AI. Better law(s) or the end(s) of law?

We now witness a global competition to regulate AI and simultaneously face the integration of automated decision-making, the drafting of Rules as Code and other types of computational ‘law’. In this talk I will discuss these two movements and their interaction, raising the question of how human judgement and machine judgment can be institutionalised in a way that reinforces or even reinvents the rule of law.
